The Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital Inpatient Bed Unit / Inpatient Pharmacy Addition was a finalist in the 2009 Keystone Awards, sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of St. Louis. The proejct was unique in that it was the first in the St. Louis region to be executed through an Integrated Form of Agreement signed by six parties, including the mechanical and electrical subcontractors.
This was a true team effort in every sense of the word, initiated by BJC HealthCare and carried out by a Lean design and construction team committed solely to successful project completion. The team met and and in some ways exceeded its own expectations, working in collaboration throughout to complete the addition 35 days ahead of schedule and 4 percent under budget, despite numerous challenges.
The expansion brings 18 new patient rooms to the St. Peters Hospital campus, along with an expanded inpatient pharmacy and shell space for future patient rooms and physicians' offices.
The project was one of three finalists in the Building Construction - $10 million to $40 million category.
