Bryce Cooper, Marketing Manager -- At the top of Art Hill in Forest Park, two tower cranes provide a temporary landmark during the expansion of the Saint Louis Art Museum. These cranes are essential components for construction of the new gallery expansion and a 300-space, below-grade parking garage.
The picture shows workers preparing the boom of one crane, prior to erection on the site. The joint-venture team of Tarlton/Pepper/KAI is using Liebherr tower cranes to complete the concrte work and set the skylight modules, as well as adress many other hoisting requirements for the project. Two similar cranes will be utilized to reach all areas of the building during construction.
The second image shows drill rigs beginning the 40- to 60-foot-deep piers that will support the Museum expansion.
