In just over three months, Tarlton completely gutted and renovated 13,000 sf of space to convert the unfinished basement level of Washington University’s Forsyth House into a fully functioning office and examination facility. The Student Health Center was completed while the 4 floors of dormitory rooms above were occupied and surrounding buildings continued at the pace of a typical, busy college campus.
The aggressive schedule required Tarlton to coordinate multiple subcontractors installing their systems simultaneously. Plumbing and electrical systems had to be integrated with existing building operations, with minimal interruptions during shutdowns for tie-ins to existing utilities. Material delivery was managed to avoid cluttering work areas, thereby creating safety hazards for the various trades working concurrently.
