PROJECT NOTES

Tarlton managed this project to bring the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences into a single 4-story building with 133 laboratories. Completing a freestanding facility housing multiple laboratory spaces and 30 sterile clean rooms was an unusual and complex undertaking that spanned three years.

Challenges in what is now Rudolph Hall included installation of a highly sophisticated laboratory system involving miles of ductwork, piping and wiring before the exterior envelope was completed. All systems had to be coordinated and installed within the walls, shafts, ceilings and lab casework. To meet schedule, Tarlton worked on interiors and exteriors concurrently and in carefully planned phases.

This was the first LEED Certified project completed in the city of St. Louis, built while Tarlton was also constructing our new headquarters, the city’s first LEED Silver project.
