Tarlton completed the $50 million, 305,000 sf core & shell historic renovation and 226,000 sf anchor tenant fit-out for Block Inc. (Square and Cash App) in a massive overhaul to 900 N. Tucker Blvd. downtown. Redevelopment of the 6-story, Art Deco-detailed masonry building, originally constructed in 1931 and home for decades to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper, was launched by the StarWood Group.

Scope included significant demolition, a new façade and main entrance at the north side of the building, new building systems, elevators, steel stairs, roof and floor openings for a new skylight and atrium, 48 new window openings in the north addition, and new walls, flooring and finishes throughout. This transformation of one of the most recognizable cornerstone properties in St. Louis has the potential to spur future development in the NOW District north of Washington Avenue.

Trivers was architect for the core & shell, with CannonDesign serving as architect for the fit-out. The project team was honored to receive a 2022 Keystone Construction Award from the Associated General Contractors of Missouri.
